Saab Key Programming

Saab cars made since 1994 have an immobilizer system based on coded keys. The addition of a key requires a new transponder and special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

This can be expensive. This is why you should always keep a spare key in your possession.

Transponder key

The transponder can be described as a key with an electronic chip. This chip sends a signal when the key is placed in the ignition. The car will check to see whether the signal is the same as the one on the key. If the signals are in sync, the car will unlock and start. This is a great way to deter auto theft and keep your vehicle safe from thieves.

Transponder keys are a favored feature in cars, but it is important to know that they are not as secure as classic keys made of metal. The metal part of the traditional key can easily be cut or copied, while the transponder is protected by an electronic chip which protects it. The chip has an unique code that is encoded into the car's system to identify it.

Jump-starting the battery
