Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Aesthetics

Bentley is a company which takes its aesthetics seriously. It's evident in the exact positioning of its quilting, the selection of leather from by-products of cattle, the timber from forests that are sustainably managed and the ingenious patterns that are etched on its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you approach it to show its sculptural beauty and power with carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever created. The rear tonneau on the Continental GT, for instance it was the largest piece ever of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Function

The key is constructed from vegetable tanned leather. It takes more than two days to craft each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed and sealed, then polished to give a superior result. It is strong and compact, and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is akin to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however, it feels heavier and has a luxurious feel.

Secure-A-Key is also included to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote-control fob, and then shuts it off in the event that the key isn't utilized for a period of a few minutes. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the values of the company which include exquisite craftsmanship, engineering expertise and cutting-edge technologies. Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their car. The "mood station" lets guests pick images that inspire them. They can choose anything from stunning views to sporting events. Edition pays homage to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited-edition cars include a special key that displays a portion of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
